Neuro Rehabilitation and Acquired Brain Injury Unit

60 West is committed to providing a quality Neuro-rehabilitation experience that is individualized to meet each person’s needs.

Rehabilitating from a brain injury can be challenging. It is our job to minimize the stressors that come with that challenge in order to maximize each persons’ recovery. We work closely with the individual and responsible parties to establish goals and identify a realistic plan to achieve them. True individualized care is achieved when our committed staff build trust and make the individual resident feel at home. We specialize in skills acquisition, cognitive therapy, individualized scheduling, medication management, community integration.

The objective for each individual is to promote the acquisition of skills that will ensure the probability of success in their projected discharge setting. This is accomplished through structuring the individual’s day with intent on preparing them for the characteristics and demands of the discharge setting. The goal is to stabilize and improve the individual’s social, emotional, and behavioral ability. Improvement in these areas will result in optimal functioning in their next setting.

Our mission is to enrich the lives of those we serve by providing quality rehabilitative services that result in the best possible outcomes to the individuals we care for. We will recognize each individual’s strengths, opportunities, challenges, and vigorously promote an optimal level of functioning to improve the individual’s quality of life.Physical Therapist, ambulation skills, neuro-rehab, 60 West

Program Built from the Ground Up

In January 2017, 60 West began developing a Neuro-Rehab program. There is a need in the state of Connecticut and this program will help serve Connecticut residents and allow them to receive care within their home state. The program’s success comes from a therapeutic approach by staff with a structured schedule that promotes independence. The Director trains all staff and works closely with them on a daily basis to ensure the highest level of care is provided and the individuals’ needs are met.
